DESCRIPTION

Purpose of the Forum

• Learn about Aboriginal practice education activities in BC
• Engage stakeholders who have a role in supporting Aboriginal practice education capacity building

Objectives

• Increase awareness and knowledge about Aboriginal practice education
• Provide an opportunity to build or strengthen partnerships
• Learn about strategies and policies influencing the Aboriginal Health Human Resources landscape and Aboriginal Health
• Develop a common vision

Who should attend?

Individuals who have a role in strengthening Aboriginal Practice Education in BC's First Nations communities & Health Authorities.

• Government - Health Canada, Ministries of Health and Advanced Education, etc
• First Nations (FN) and Aboriginal Organizations - FN Health Council, FN Health Directors Association, FN Education Steering Committee, and the Indigenous Adult Higher Learning Association, etc
• Public Post Secondary Institutions
  • Deans and Directors
  • Faculty involved in Aboriginal practice education
  • Placement coordinators and Aboriginal Coordinators
• Health Authorities - (practice education, Aboriginal health, and preceptors, supervisors or mentors)

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

• Venue: The Fairmont Vancouver (BC) Airport Hotel -3111 Grant McConachie Way, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V7B 0A6. YVR-Airport Station (Canada Line To YVR). Parking is on P2 and P3.

• Stories and Poster Presentations: If you are planning on sharing a success story on Aboriginal practice education partnerships, capacity building and/or sustainability. If you would like to have a Poster Presentation at the event that demonstrates Aboriginal Practice Education success, please let us know.

• Hotels: Each registrant is responsible for making their own room reservation. A block of rooms are on hold for this forum at the Fairmont Hotel and at the Hilton Hotel Airport. Please contact us if you require more information to book your guest room at the Hilton Hotel.
